I grew up in east TN and went to a small Baptist college nearby. Worked as research technician 2 yrs at NCSU before grad school. I worked 8 years for federal government (Census Bureau and Walter Reed Army Med Ctr) as research statistician before moving to NC in 1987. Worked part-time in computer services, bookkeeping, and as a reading tutor (VISTA volunteer) while my son was in elementary school. Was adjunct faculty in math in various community colleges for 15 years before I started teaching in high school. Taught high school math 2001-present (all courses except geometry, up through AP Calculus and AP statistics).
