I have worked as an educator in New York City for the past ten years. Early in my career, I worked at the middle school level for six years teaching young people history, Social Studies and Humanities content, civics, writing skills, and, above all, a love for learning. After this, I helped co-found a high school with a team of teachers focused on inquiry-based learning. In addition to my regular teaching schedule, I have led Model U.N. groups and Student Government as well as after school Regents prep programs.
My educational philosophy embraces active pedagogy that will engage and motivate the learner. In addition, I also believe in cultivating positive habits of mind that will help the learner internalize strategies that will work for him/her as they improve their skills. When I tutor students, my goal is to come up with a plan that will help him improve his or her academic life.

I am a National Board Certified teacher with ten years experience working with adolescents and young adults. I am licensed by the city and state in Social Studies and have my Master's degree in Sociology of Education. I have also taught teaching fellows at the college level. I am currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Urban Education at CUNY.I enjoy working with students and helping tailor a plan that will help him or her achieve their goals. In addition to the topics listed above, I can be particularly helpful in coaching students in their writing skills for a specific class or project, Regents exams, the SAT or other standardized exam.
