I have a math degree from a small Baptist school in East Tennessee. I worked as a research technician for 2 years at NCSU in the Forestry before entering graduate school. I have a Master of Science in Public Health in BIOSTATISTICS from UNC-Chapel Hill. After finishing my degree, I worked first for the Census Bureau and then Walter Reed Army Medical Center as a research statistician. My family moved to NC in 1987, where my husband teaches in the public school system. During the time that my son was in elementary school, I worked part-time as a computer services consultant (self-employed) and as a college math instructor, mostly in community colleges. For the past 5 years I have taught high school math, including AP Calculus and AP Statistics.
